Czech University Grading A–F: How Letters Convert to Numbers

Guide to the letter grading system A-F used at universities and their conversion to numerical values

Czech universities often use letter grades A through F instead of numbers 1 to 5. This system is also common at foreign universities. Let's explain how it works and how to convert to numbers.

Conversion Table A-F to Numbers

Standard conversion of letter grades to numerical values:

A Excellent (1)
B Very Good (1,5)
C Good (2)
D Satisfactory (2,5)
E Sufficient (3)
F Failed (4)

Note: Some universities (e.g., CTU Prague) don't use the E grade. In their system, F follows directly after D. Always verify the specific rules of your faculty.

How to Use This Table

When calculating study average, replace letter grades with corresponding numerical values. For example, a study average of 1.5 corresponds to grade B and is considered a very good result.
